Course Description:
The course of the event will take place on the Ottawa River Pathway behind Cairine Wilson High School at 975 Orleans Blvd in Orleans.  This will be the same easy, flat course as last year with the start / finish line next to Cairine Wilson High School and proceeding 2-1/2 km east along the pathway to a halfway turn-around point and retracing the course back to the start/finish.  A map of the route is found by clicking here.
T-Shirt Kit Pick-up:
Your run kit will consist of your bib number (with pins) plus information on the Gracefest activities after the race and information on Habitat for Humanity. T-Shirt kits can be picked up either before the run/walk on Friday 08 Sept 2017 between 6 to 8pm or before the run/walk event between 9 to 9:45am on Saturday 09 Sept 2017 at the race site beside Cairine Wilson Secondary School in Orleans.  For those who do not register online before the cut-off date for ordering T shirts (to be communicated later), we cannot guarantee a T-shirt will be provided; however, we will make every effort to have sufficient quantities for the number of registrants anticipated.

Course Etiquette for Participants:

Volunteers will be stationed along the course to assist you and to discourage non-participants from the pathway.  We cannot guarantee exclusive use of the pathway so please keep to the right-hand side of the trail at all times (e.g. no groups running/walking 3 abreast) to allow faster as well as returning participants room to pass.  Feel free to cheer them on as they pass!

Facilities:

There will be ONE porta-potty available next to the start / finish line.  While a large crowd in not anticipated, please respect the wishes of others to use this facility. Also, please note that Cairine Wilson High School will NOT be open as an alternative facility.

There will be ONE water station on course at approximately 1.8 km (and 3.2 km on the return).  This location is at the north end of Champlain Blvd at the entrance to François Dupont park.

A first-aid team from SOS Technologies will be on site during the event near the start-finish line.

Food and Beverage:

Courtesy of our gracious sponsors, food and beverages will be provided to all participants following the event.  There will be a food and beverage tent near the start-finish line.

Wild Parsnip:
The City of Ottawa has posted warning signs indicating that wild parsnip is growing in patches alongside the path.  Contact with the sap from this plant can cause severe skin irritation.  Please stay on the paved pathway.

Gift Certificates and Random Draw:

We have received a generous number of gift certificates from local Orleans/Cumberland businesses for our event. Many of the T-shirt kits handed out will already have gift certificates randomly inserted in them.  At approximately 11:45am at Grace Presbyterian Church we will also have a draw based on your bib number for approximately five major gift certificates.
